Club Scientifics' Co-Owner, Sue Hagan became a "Motherless Daughter" in 1972 along with her two younger sisters. This horrific experience forever changed the lives of three little girls who desperately missed their mother. Their father was left to deal with this tragedy by himself, which was overwhelming most of the time. With working a full time night job and trying to find adequate 
care for his little girls, the incredible job of single parenting was realized. Sue's father realized very quickly how difficult it was to run a household and meet the many needs of his three young daughters at the same time. There were no support groups in the community to help with the grieving and the task of raising his precious little girls alone. So, like many in his shoes, Sue's father would simply do the very best he could with what he had to work with.
Hello, I am Sue Hagan. The purpose of the Shelby Jean Scholarship is to provide 100% Scholarships for children who have unfortunately lost a parent (s). I know first hand what the trauma of losing a parent has on a person's entire life. I loved my mother very much and miss her terribly still today. I wanted to honor my mother by using her name, Shelby Jean, and her beautiful memory, to build a Non-Profit Scholarship that would give children, who have lost a parent the gift of a science day camp experience. I totally understand that as parents we want our children to experience many wonderful educational opportunitites, but many times the expense of such opportunitites is more than we can afford. I have raised two sons myself and I truly understand how expensive the "extras" can be. The Shelby Jean Scholarship will benefit many children who have lost a parent(s) and who would otherwise not be able to go to camp this summer.
The Shelby Jean Scholarship would like to invite those children who qualify to fill out the on-line application.
